During my senior year of high school, I lived in British Columbia on a farm with about 100-200 other people. I learned a lot in that time, but there was one thing that really stuck out to me. Living there was like living in a greenhouse.
A greenhouse is a place that plants are grown, in the spring before the weather is temperate enough for the plants to live on their own. The plants live the greenhouse until summer when the plants are planted in the garden.
In life, being in school is like being in a greenhouse. You’re in a time of your life where you are in an environment where you can grow fast, with a lot of other people who are growing fast, and you are protected from the outside world.
You can’t live your entire life in a greenhouse, you have to leave at some point. It’s so unrealistic, and there is no harvest in the greenhouse. It’s just a place to start before you can survive in the elements.
In a greenhouse, things are different than the rest of the world. If you find that you live in a controlled environment, and you agree with everyone you know – you might live in a greenhouse. If the people you know often disagree with the rest of the world, you could live in a greenhouse.
If you live in a greenhouse, it is a wonderful place to be for a short amount of time. Just don’t say there.
