In John Maxwell’s book The 17 Indisputable Laws of Teamwork, he talks about the Law of the Scoreboard. It’s important to watch the scoreboard so you know how you are doing. In a football game, you can look up to see the time as well as score of the game. You know what to watch to see where you are in the game.
When I make a decision, I am going to make that decision based on something. The criteria that I take into account when I make that decision affects whether the decision is good or bad. The process in making a decision is actually more important than the final decision sometimes. Next time you can adjust the process so the decision is better.
So, what metric do you watch? What criteria do you take into account when you make a decision? That I can’t tell you for sure. But, think of your happiness as well as your overall plan that you have laid out for your life as you process your decision. These are things that you should watch.
