Getting Naked

I was on a flight to Texas when I saw a book. I wasn’t sure at first that I was seeing the title right. When I did it; I felt a little awkward. What is that lady reading? Why does she need to learn how to get naked? I looked away, thinking she may be training for a profession that I didn’t want to know about.

A few days later I was in the airport and Tim Jenne, who was traveling with me, went down to the bookstore in the airport. When he came back; he had a few books. One of them was “Getting Naked”. I was a little surprised. Thought, I may as well give this weird book a try. At least it isn’t about what I thought it was…..

My take-a-way from reading this book is that you need to focus whole heartedly on the client. And by this, showing up to an initial and focus on what the client needs. Don’t prepare some big presentation telling them what they need to do and why they need to do it. Learn about them, care about them. Develop a relationship with the client starting with the introduction. The simplicity of this is demonstrated so well by Cesar Milan’s first words to every client. He says “How can I help?”. After he asks this, Cesar sits waiting for an answer.

If you work in an industry where you need go gain and keep clients, this book is for you.  If you ever struggle with making sales, this is a must read. It changes your perspective and shows how you can “get naked” in business dealings.

As with every book I post, I could just say “read it” and hope you are convinced. If you haven’t read this book, then you can pick it up from Amazon.
