I totally agree. But, when you are on the other side of that, say in the position that you actually were, great communication would actually be to respond in a way to move the interaction forward. For the most part people don’t just send out informative e-mails/chat messages, they expect a reply.

Unless you are 100% that the message is simply informational, then the very least that should be done is to respond asking for clarification.
