It's a Draft

This week there's been a common theme that has come up that has intrigued me. It's the difference between communicating "done" and "draft". When work is sent to me on a project that I'm responsible for, I have completely different feedback if I think you're "done" vs it's a "draft" you're showing me.

Communication: Did you really try?

You are asked to get information from someone, where do you start? If you know the person and have worked with them, then it is easy - you know how to communicate with them. If you don't know the person, you have to figure out what forms of communication they use to be able to get an answer to the question you are needing to ask. How do you go about doing that?

Be an Open Book

A few years ago I was working late at night at the Red Lion Hotel here in Redding. I was looking at the paper, and there was a celebrity who had recently done something in their personal life that was published in the paper. As I was reading that article, it hit me.... That celebrity wasn't ready to be in the spotlight. In their life, they became well known faster than they could handle, and their character didn't match up to the place they were in the spotlight.

Failure is a difficult achievement

I have high goals, and expect to achieve quite a lot in my life.  I've been asked, at times, whether I'm afraid of failing.  Others have been worried that I may fail.  Yet, failing doesn't make sense to me.
